How to Set Up IPTV on a Samsung Smart TV (2026 Guide)

Smart IPTV App (smartiptvapp.com), the IPTV service that publishes this guide, is not the Smart IPTV player by siptv.app. Last checked: October 8, 2026 (IBO Player: October 5), against Samsung's official app installation guide, siptv.app, iboiptv.com and getiptvsmarters.com. App availability depends on your TV model and country.

Why Samsung TVs are different from a Firestick

Samsung Smart TVs run their own system, Tizen. That matters for IPTV in two ways. First, you can only install apps that the Samsung store offers for your model. There is no "unknown sources" switch like on Android devices, so the APK files you see in Firestick tutorials are useless here. Second, the choice of IPTV players is smaller, and some of them charge a one-time activation fee or a license per TV.

Once a player is in, though, the TV is pleasant to use. No extra box. There is no second remote or extra power socket either, and because most models have an Ethernet port, you can run a cable from the router instead of relying on Wi-Fi.

Keep one thing in mind. An IPTV player only plays what you give it, and Smart IPTV, IBO Player and IPTV Smarters all state on their official sites that they include no channels, because those come from your IPTV subscription, a separate service.

What you need

• A Samsung Smart TV connected to the internet, by Wi-Fi or cable.
• A Samsung account. According to Samsung's support guide, an account is now required to open or download any app, so if you skipped it during setup, create one on your phone or computer first.
• Your IPTV login. Providers send either an M3U link (one long web address holding your channel list) or Xtream Codes (a server address, a username and a password). Some also send an EPG link for the TV guide.
• A computer or phone for some players, which ask you to upload your playlist on their website instead of typing it with the remote.

Step 1: Sign in to your Samsung account

Samsung's guide for Canada (updated June 17, 2026) gives this path. Menu names can differ slightly between models and software versions.

1. On the Home screen, press Left on the remote to open the menu.
2. Select Settings, then All Settings.
3. Go to General & Privacy, then System Manager, then Samsung Account.
4. Scan the QR code with a phone that is already signed in to your Samsung account, or choose Remote Control and type your email and password.

Step 2: Choose and install an IPTV player

Installing is quick:

1. On the Home screen, press Left and select Search.
2. Type the name of the player with the on-screen keyboard.
3. Select it in the results, then select Install.
4. Before you open it, select Add to Home so the app sits on your Home screen. Then select Open.

Which player to search for depends on your TV. Here are the three that matter on Samsung in 2026.

Smart IPTV

Smart IPTV is a long-running player for smart TVs, with release notes on its site going back to 2019. On July 29, 2026, its developer released version 3.1.3 for Samsung TVs with Tizen 6.5 or newer, which means 2022 and later models. Careful if you used Smart IPTV before: according to the official site, this is a new app and not an update, so you install it fresh from the store.

Activation costs 5.49 EUR, paid once per TV, and the developer is blunt about it: do not pay if you have no channels to use, because activation includes none.

Smart IPTV is set up from a computer, not the remote. On the TV, the app shows a MAC address (also called ID). You enter that ID on the My List page together with your M3U link or your Xtream username and password, then reopen the app on the TV so it loads the list.

IBO Player

IBO Player lists Samsung and LG webOS among its compatible devices on iboiptv.com. It works the same way as Smart IPTV: the app shows a MAC address and a device key, and you add your playlist through the "Manage playlists" section of the website.

IBO Player runs as a 7-day trial, then needs a paid license, and the developer states that there are no refunds after purchase. Two details from its FAQ are worth knowing:

• Each TV has two MAC addresses, one for Wi-Fi and one for Ethernet. If you switch from Wi-Fi to a cable, the second MAC becomes active, so register the one shown in the app after the switch.
• IBO Player has no TV guide of its own. It shows a guide only when your IPTV provider supplies EPG data.

IPTV Smarters

The official Smarters download page says to search for "IPTV Smarters" in the Samsung app store, but it also explains that its updated Samsung app is still going through Samsung's review. Until it is published, Smarters offers an official USB installation for supported Samsung TVs, covered further down.

Its advantage: you log in directly on the TV with Xtream Codes or an M3U link. No website step.

Which IPTV app is best for a Samsung TV?

For a 2022 or newer Samsung TV, Smart IPTV is a sensible first choice because its developer names those models explicitly. If you already use IBO Player on another TV in the house, stay with it so your family sees the same layout everywhere. If you prefer typing your login on the TV, Smarters is the one to try.

Whichever you choose, test it with your own subscription before paying for a license. Every player handles streams a little differently, and a TV that plays everything smoothly in one app can stutter in another.

Step 3: Add your IPTV subscription

• Smart IPTV: note the ID shown in the app, open siptv.app/mylist on a computer, enter the ID and either your M3U link in the URL field or your Xtream details in the USER/PASS fields. Choose your EPG country (USA, UK and Canada are listed), send it, then restart the app on the TV. Its developer also recommends locking your MAC/ID in the app's settings so nobody else can reset your playlist.
• IBO Player: note the MAC address and device key on the app's start screen, open iboiptv.com, go to "Manage playlists", sign in with those two values and add your M3U link or Xtream login. Restart the app.
• IPTV Smarters: choose the Xtream Codes login, give the profile a name, then enter the username, password and server address exactly as your provider sent them, including http:// and the port number. With an M3U link, choose the playlist option instead.

Be patient the first time. The player has to read the whole channel list and the guide, which can take a minute, but after that, channels open straight from the list.

Installing IPTV Smarters on Samsung by USB

This is the official temporary method from Smarters' USB installation page, for users who cannot get the app from the store while the new version is in review.

1. If IPTV Smarters is already on your TV, uninstall it completely first, and keep your login at hand, because Smarters warns that this can erase it.
2. On a computer, download the latest userwidget.zip from that page. On September 17, 2026, it was 19 MB, and the page publishes its SHA-256 checksum.
3. Extract the zip. You get a folder named userwidget. Copy the whole folder to a USB flash drive without renaming it or changing anything inside.
4. Make sure the TV is connected to the internet, then plug the USB drive into the TV. The TV should detect the package and install the app automatically.
5. Open IPTV Smarters from Apps and log in.

There is a catch. The package can only be installed within 30 days of its creation date, and once installed, the app runs for up to 30 days. Smarters says it refreshes the download regularly, so always take the newest file and expect to repeat this until the store version is live.

What if no IPTV app shows up on your TV?

Samsung's own guide explains it: if you cannot find an app in the store, it most likely is not compatible with your TV model, which is more common on older TVs whose memory or processor no longer meet the app's requirements. Resetting the TV will not fix a hardware limit.

What works is an external device on an HDMI port. A streaming stick that runs Android or Fire OS gives you the full choice of players, including TiviMate, which its developer builds for Android TV and which has no Samsung version. A side note, because many people confuse the two: Samsung TV Plus, which comes preinstalled on Samsung TVs, is Samsung's own free channel service. It is unrelated to an IPTV subscription and does not play M3U playlists.

Getting smooth playback on a Samsung TV

• Use the Ethernet port. A cable from the router removes most freezing caused by Wi-Fi. With IBO Player, remember that the MAC address changes when you switch to cable.
• Keep the TV software up to date in the settings menu, since app compatibility depends on it.
• Reopen the app after changing your playlist on the Smart IPTV or IBO Player website, so the TV picks up the new list.
• Check other devices on the network. Large downloads or video calls elsewhere in the house compete for the same bandwidth.
• Test a channel in another app. If a stream fails in one player and works in another, the issue is the player or the TV's format support, not your subscription. IBO Player's FAQ notes that not every smart TV supports every stream format.

Common problems and quick fixes

"Playlist not loading" after uploading it on the website

Check that you entered the MAC or ID exactly as shown in the app, then restart the app completely. With IBO Player, confirm that the TV is still on the same connection type (Wi-Fi or cable) as when you registered it.

The login fails in IPTV Smarters

Copy the server address character by character, including http:// and the port. Usernames and passwords are case sensitive. If it still refuses, our guide to the "failed to authorize" error goes through all eight checks.

Channels play but the TV guide is empty

The Smarters USB install stopped working after a few weeks

That is the 30-day validity of the USB package. Download the newest userwidget.zip and repeat the steps, or switch to the store version once it is published.
